HSN SD is now broadcasting letter boxed 16:9 video.
That should mean no more empty space on the right side of the screen as you have with QVC as they still frame their video for 4:3.

Just saw a QVC ad with Nester talking jewelry that was letterboxed

Been noticing alot of channels going letterboxed: ESPN, ESPN2, FSN, CNN, Foxnews

I noticed that today also, HSN and a lot of SD channels are 16:9 today for some reason. I wonder if it's just temporary or they are going to move all SD channels to 16:9 soon? Why are certain stations now letterboxed today and others are still 4:3? Are more coming soon?

HSN is putting graphics on the far right so it appears they are going to stay letterboxed for SD.
QVC only letterboxes their promos for the SD channel.
