Sorry Martine Maniacs, there was a lot more of Bayan this week. It was a couples week this time, and it came off as a really good import of the gimmick.

Fun game show thing in this week's show. One of the small prizes in Plinko was the home version of Atomes Crochus, the Quebec version of Match Game. Also, try to watch Hole in 1 on the vtele website - they may use the bumpiest putting green imaginable.

Something you are likely never to see to see on the US version of the show during this week - a Teen Week themed show. Strangely, one of the items up for bid was driving lessons, and there was a Jeep in the final showcase.

That's because on the US TPIR (which is also seen in English Canada of course), you have to be 18 or older (and three contestants so far this season who won their games were ineligible because they were underage); no ifs, ands, or buts.

Another new game makes its debut - Quitter or Double. (Double or Nothing). Seemed to be their version of 'Step Up'.

They've had it since last season.

But when are they going to have It's In The Bag, Grand Game, Squeeze Play, Danger Price, Money Game, and Cover-Up (the latter for four-digit prizes)? And how can you say "Pay the Rent" in French (for $50,000)?

I might have confused it with Rue D'Or for some reason. Or it has appeared so rarely up here that I forgot about it. Probably the latter: A couple neat things in this week's show:

The audience booing when the strikes are put in the bag for the 3 Strikes game.
The woman screaming at the the yodely guy in English for him to stop.
Your strange 'One Bid' prize of the week: A teeth whitening session

UPDATE: TPIR:AVDJ could be pink slipped after two seasons. The reasons? Ratings have been in a sharp decline since the premiere; another factor are high production costs plus most of the prizes were supplied by retailers (B&M, for example) rather than the companies themselves. I guess that also explains the rotation of the same games; no Any Number, Most Expensive, One Away, Cover-Up, Danger Price, etc.

Which reminds me...the current Australian TPIR is unlike the far more glitzy previous version due to its cheapness and that Big W (which is the Aussie version of Wal-Mart) provides most of the prizes.

There's no sign of the show listed on V's website, so I'm guessing it is gone.

I can't complain too much, as the fact the network did have a set for Atomes Crochus did lead to Match Game making its English-language return.
