One of the regular QVC vendors posted this:

Hey everybody. Get ready, get SET ... literally! We have been broadcasting from the QVC EXPO warehouses for the past few weeks as all of the old sets got GUTTED and re-done. Took a tour today and I must say WOW!!!!!! QVC, welcome to the new millenium! The new sets, I believe, will be debuted tomorrow night during the holiday shows.

What to expect ... uber modern. Matching. Warm. Inviting. Colorful. Very well done.

Hopefully the camera will be in closer when showing the host and guests.Sometimes you think they've the cameras on the next set that they're showing them from.

One of the changes they made are the graphics. They've a round edge now instead of square edge.It also looks like the graphic that has the item information is a little wider.

Yes they've changed the graphics box...the time is next to the item number now and one lady already complained the data in the graphic box looks smaller than before. It doesn't look wider to me, still the same size

I just got an HD cable box which lets you watch the HD video on an SD TV.
Besides the sharper picture QVC HD sucks since they are simply showing what you see on the SD feed on the left side of the screen and there's an extra graphic on filling the rest of the right side. :P

Maybe I should turn by there and check it out for a few days just to see what they look like.

See thats exactly what I thought would happen. So they are just using the left half of the screen as normal, and using the extra space for this QVC HD Extra crap

See they could easily use the full 16x9 aspect ratio for the normal stuff and still have prime viewing.

Hopefully HSN will learn from QVC mistake. Hopefully they wont have a "wing" and just move current graphics off to side and bottom some and leave more viewing for the customers ;)

QVC going to use "wing" for more advertising throughout the day :jetserl

Although this is still new and could see graphics change from time to time until they get one thats comfortable with them.

Also with that wing being so large...Im not quite sure that is true HD. looks like a 4:3 ratio screen with just a wing on the end.

When I cap QVC in HD through the firewire using capdvhs I don't have the box on the right of the screen.

I've got some sweet Lisa R's to post from the other night in the purple outfit.

The thing I hate about capdvhs is that you can't see what you're recording as it's recording. You have to go back and watch it again and then take the screencaps.

Thanks for clearing that up...may be because Ice has cable box to allow HD video on SD tv. Or may be certain shows, but dont see why that would matter.

This is only a theory, but maybe there is something to it. Maybe what we're seeing on QVC HD now isn't their true HD broadcast. It seems as shows switch to HD they advertise the heck out of the fact they are now in HD. I don't think I've seen them mention it much, if at all, the fact they have an HD channel. The banner on the side of the screen is useless since all they do is show the same 3 or 4 graphics on it all the time.

A lot more goes into an HD broadcast then just putting new cameras on the same old sets. Since HD shows every flaw they wouldn't be doing themselves any favors keeping the same old sets and styles. The set design is usually different as is the lighting design. Even the make up-and application of the make-up on the for the on-air people is different. yoda knows some of their on-air people could use some help with that. So, maybe once the news sets are done they'll do an official roll out of the real QVC HD.

Again...just a theory.

Here's what I'm getting:

To me it looks like the video is SD 4:3 with the only thing being HD the graphic on the right side.

QVC is not broadcasting in HD yet; they were going to start in January, 2009 but it seems that it has been delayed until the Spring.

From the QVC BB's:

LoveMyGolden

Last month, I heard Bob B. say it would be in January, but yesterday Rick D. said it would be spring. The only time I hear them mention it is when they are selling an HD television.
