I always thought (hoped) that Robin Meade was a possible candidate. She has a fun personality and doesn't take herself anywhere near as seriously as most other media figures.

I don't recall where I read it- probably either a transcript from an interview or maybe just on her Twitter page- but when she was asked about her reaction to an offer to pose for Playboy, her answer gave the impression that she wasn't offended by or even immediately dismissive of the possibility. If memory serves she said something to the effect that her bosses at CNN were apprehensive about the prospect and that her religious father would've been devastated. In all likelihood, she was just playing to her male audience by suggesting that under different circumstances, she may have been open to a nude photo shoot. But in a world where nudity seems to have become much less taboo, it got me thinking: might there be a day when a respected, established reporter or anchor might pose for a series of artistic, relatively tame photos?

About 12 years ago, then Monday Night Football sideline reporter Lisa Guerrero posed for Playboy. "Classy nudes" is usually a dubious phrase. But Lisa's pictorial was as close to classy and artistic as a nude photo set can get. The photos were mostly lingerie with a just couple of topless ones, and she looked fantastic.

Granted, a sideline reporter is not a news reporter. But, with the right public relations message- "a smart, successful woman who just turned 40 or 50 and wants to inspire other women with her confidence, beauty, and bravery", maybe it could happen. I doubt anybody will pose for the floundering Playboy- that would come off as a desperate and obvious attempt to gain male viewers- but there have got to be other more respected publications that could offer a kind of plausible deniability to her motivations. I can imagine the aforementioned PR announcement naming a well respected journalist posing for a similarly well respected photographer for something like Vanity Fair. At least I don't think its out of the realm of possibility.

Thoughts? I no longer think Robin would consider this, but can you think of anyone who would?

Not sure, since the risk of getting fired for posing is a big enough risk not to tackle head on.

There was a woman who worked for a station in Phoenix named Shelly Jamison who posed for Playboy in 1989
She was fired not long after the magazine came out and never worked in the business again
She is now a deputy fire chief in Phoenix

If any national one would have done it it would have been Lynne Russell & she never did.

There was the Cleveland reporter that went nude for an art project & did it as a story during sweeps & they did show bare a$$.

I think it also was Ohio with the woman who went topless at a wet t shirt contest in Florida & I think got fired but got another job.

Main high paid ones I would say no shot.

Commentator types I think will happen. Who, What, When, & Where? Your guess is as good as mine.

Sadly I dont think those types would be a big enough name for a Playboy or even Maxim so would have to be a fringe mag or website (Me In My Place). Remember to us if Cheryl Casone ( I can dream right? ) ever posed nude we would go nuts for months. But the the rest of America it would sadly be "Who's she?".

The 1 chance for a big name might be if a firing or scandal happens.
Then also factor in age. The big names become big after paying dues for years. Look at Maria Bartiromo she is almost 50. I would love to see it but would too many things work against it?

Sadly too many people would rather see the instagram twit of the day nude then our classy newswomen.

Lynne Russell did however write an essay for one of the former Playboy Special Editions talking about sex.

Agreed and if I recalled wineguy, Lisa G tenure with MNF ended that season. Granted it was more than likely because of her crappy performance though I'm sure her bosses weren't too happy with that. To Sparty's example, surprised she didn't consider to sue that station but then again I doubt she would have won. Maybe she would have had a better case 20 years later with Fox Sports first attempt nationally where they had Lisa Dergen and Leeann Tweeden who did pose for Playboy before the careers at Fox. Also Playboy ended a career of a male meteorologist. Unsure if any of see the show American Greed on CNBC the episode this The Bar Girls Trap if you want to check it out. Philly meteorologist John Bolaris had a real life hangover story twice involving Russian hooker and after the playboy publish the story in 2011 and his contract wasn't renewed. Now he does real estate.

To the OP (wineguy), you're probably thinking of a podcast excerpt from almost a decade ago where somebody e-mailed Robin about it. And it's true that although she gave reasons as to why she wouldn't do it, she also didn't necessarily say no to the prospect either. Hell, if they actually dummied up some fake magazine covers to go with it, what might that tell you?

I'm sure Robin still would be flattered if someone requested it today, but there's still no way she would do it.
Oh, and here's a working link to the video in the above post. Sorry it's an AVI, but we lived in the dark age of video codecs then.

If any news woman would do it, I'd figure they'd be in a "what have I got to lose" situation. Either someone well established nearing the end of their tenure or someone still relatively new and slowly rising. Nonetheless, I'd still call it a career killer. But dare to dream...
