mistook Lisa Kennedy's voice off-camera for Jenna Lee's, possibly because
Jenna appears in the clip conversing with Harris Faulkner just before Kennedy
blurted out her remark.

Almost everyone was full of sympathy for golf's world number one after his ankle injury. Almost everyone, but not quite.

On Monday Rory McIlroy shocked the world as he shared the news that he has completely ruptured his left ankle while having a football kickabout.

For now, we'll leave aside the rights and wrongs of whether the world's best golfer ought to be playing a contact sport 10 days before defending his title at the biggest tournament of the year. We've talked about that elsewhere.

We'll also not worry too much right here about how long his recovery will take. While he's yet to officially withdraw from The Open, Dr Alan Shearer shared with the world his view that McIlroy "will be out for months rather than weeks" given the severity of the injury.

Instead, we'll focus on the reaction of a newsreader for Fox in the USA, whose reaction to the McIlroy injury was not exactly sympathetic.

No, your ears did not deceive you. That noise you just heard really was the sound of a professional news broadcaster - 35-year-old Jenna Lee - saying of a professional athlete "he's a leprechaun, I can't stand him".

Whether you think it was appropriate for Kennedy to make the comment at least she didn't back down and give some lame apology for what she said. To be honest Rory Mcllroy does look like a leprechaun so she wasn't lying LOL...........

Kennedy has released a statement about this confusion, making note that
neither Jenna or Harris were involved:

"Yesterday at this time I used the word leprechaun to describe golfer Rory McIlroy. I love sports, I love golf, but I am not a fan of Rory’s. Mostly for the way he treated tennis great Caroline Wozniacki and discarded her like a piece of chewed gum when he broke her heart and broke off their engagement in a short phone conversation. That’s worse than breaking up on a Post-it. Now to be clear, neither Harris nor Jenna Lee used the term and I don’t want them to get the credit for it. I called Rory McIlroy a leprechaun and believe me I wanted to call him much worse. As you know, some of my best friends are leprechauns and they also have tremendous sense of humor. Thank you."

I got the feeling Sandra Smith was a little annoyed at Kennedy's Rory Rant. If anyone still has it on their dvr,you can see Sandra's expression for a quick second when the camera cuts back to her from Kennedy. lol
