“‘The View’ is looking for someone to spice up the show,” an insider revealed to Shuter. “Someone with lots of opinions and a big personality and Bethennny is at the top of the list.” Apparently several secret conversations have occurred but no deal has been reached.

If she’s hired, Frankel won’t be the first co-host with a reality show background. Elisabeth Hasselbeck was a contestant on “Survivor.”

The 43-year-old television personality is looking for a job as her self-titled afternoon talk show was not renewed. She also recently settled a bruising custody battle over her four-year-old daughter Bryn with ex-husband Jason Hoppy.

The source added that Frankel is “very interested in getting back on TV. It is the only job that she really knows. She is telling friends that she thinks she can save ‘The View.’”

Joy and Elisabeth left last year, Barbara retired this year. They only added Jenny so far and they will add 2 more people for the new season beginning September. If this source is correct they will still add 1 more person.

Now sources say that Jenny McCarthy will not get her contract renewed already. Ratings are down since Elisabeth (and Joy) left.

Not surprised, really. She doesn't seem to have much chemistry with the other women and arguably doesn't even dress as sexy as Elisabeth did/does. Wonder who'll they'll get to replace her??

Wow, didn't see that one coming about Sherri leaving, too. As you say, johnkay, lots of opportunities to remake that show with leggy cohorts. Here's hoping the show's producers get it right!

With all of these changes, I wouldn't expect The View to last much longer.

Yep. Watch them totally miss it and hire women noone would be interested in watching....well no guy anyhow but whatever female demo they were looking for they obviously aren't getting anymore.

Maybe they need to try something different.

Sadly, I think you're right. On Fox and Friends they said Laila Ali and Rosie O'Donnell are rumored to be 2 of the 4 new cohosts.
Edit - lol just saw the tmz link and they mentioned the new casting rumors

Well, she wouldn't have a hardcore conservative like Elisabeth around to bash. That show became a liberal love fest from the start. Elisabeth suffered for years dealing with Joy and then Rosie. It would be strange having Rosie come back as a "2nd Banana" to Whoopi. You can't have 2 head moderators. Unless Whoopi starts taking days off and Rosie slides over into her old position. And if Bethenny Frankel another liberal joins, will they even bother to add a conservative voice. If they did, that lady would probably get bashed to submission in one day between Whoopi and Rosie. And I guess Laila Ali is supposedly a liberal too.

all the way to the bank. The Elisabeth vs. everyone else got more viewers to watch the show. Which is what ABC wanted and it worked, and was copied by FNC with "The Five".
