"...the end of HLN as we know it" ???That seems to happen like clockwork about every 2 years.
CNN has been mangling, then reassembling their sister network over and over for most of the last decade.
The cyclical mass-firings, the "Trial Of The Century (Of The Month)"/CourtTV identity crises, the constant rebranding...
Headline News/HLN barely gets a chance for anyone to know it anymore, before some clueless consultants come along
and undo everything that was just done...the paint doesn't even dry. It's turned into the "Transformer" network.
Don't blink --- you won't recognize it if you wait a little while.
(All this going on by the way, even BEFORE Zucker was on the scene)
And dig a little deeper into this "Vice" matter...it's interesting:
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-06-1 ... media.htmlMurdoch's FoxCorp. already has a stake in Vice, and --here's the weirder part -- TimeWarner says they're not even interested
in getting hold of Fox's portion.
Huh????
So if this all goes down.... CNN AND Fox both have partial control over the same media outlet?
Was that a flying pig that just went by?
I don't even get what this is really based on. Vice Media (which I didn't even know existed until this story) just established their
news organization and channel last December....just
6 months ago. And TimeWarner and Fox are both trying to sink their claws
into them ALREADY? On what track record? On how much success? And now talk of just gutting a whole cable operation to hand them the keys?
All I'm seeing in this is a bunch of over-stressed network execs grabbing at straws and being
mesmerized by shiny new objects. It's gotten predictable and even sad.
