Too bad...... Zoraida is a great anchor.

CNN has a pretty deep bench to turn to for her replacement.....the rotation on New Day weekends is probably where they will turn to. Poppy Harlow maybe?

Agree. I've always thought she and Berman were perfect together.

I think Christine Romans or Pamela Brown are the most obvious choices. Both already work the morning shift and have substituted for Zoraida most often.

Maybe Zorida knows what is coming to CNN and decided to leave,

Thanks for the links, IceMan.

Yeah, that would be the case given that going back to Chicago was passed around as the reason Zoraida is leaving (probably wants to be near family).

Not to get off track but I don't get the whole Nancy Grace thing unless Zucker is going to do away with the mini-Court TV porgram block HLN has on in prime time. Grace's show does real well in the ratings and there's always some trial that people seem to be following. While I have no interest in it doing away with that focus could be a major mistake if ratings are the ultimate objective. If not that, what are they going to show in prime time on HLN that would differentiate themselves from CNN?

I really don't get the media exec's obsession with overtaxed and overrated NYC. There are a lot of cities in this country that are just as suited to big business. Hope Robin tells them she is ready to move on. :?

Zoraida and Early Start are already based out of New York, so I don't see why this could be the reason for her leaving.

I'm sorry to go off-topic as well, but according to Zucker, advertisers aren't interested in trial coverage.

I wonder if Zucker would hire Kiran Chetry back for one of the spots opening up. She's already in NY, and her youngest child will be old enough to start school next year, so I could see her returning to CNN if their split was really an amicable one. I'm just hoping out loud, but the problem with American Morning wasn't her, it was the lack of any true identity for the show, and the pairing of her with that douche John Roberts that turned people off.

It's the old lie in which the whole world runs around New York. Your league will not make it if there are no teams in New York City. But where's the NASCAR track? The FBS school? Fordham used to be a national power in the 1930's but de-emphasized football in the 1950s when they had the point shaving scandals in college sports and now they are FCS. Nearest FBS schools are either Army or other schools in another state. Even the Giants and Jets don't technically play there.

Also well unsure if you count the Arena Football League but for most of their seasons they had no New York teams.

Back to the subject on another topic, they might be more people to choose from. Apparently Jeff Zucker is asking Atlanta talent to come to NYC. Unsure who will take him on his offer. Out of the three mention (in my opinion), I don't think there's a clear cut favorite. Christine had a stint or two has a morning show co-host already but again has more experience than Poppy whose started doing news stories this year (or was it last year) and Pamela who was hired earlier this year. If Pamela gets the nod, I hope she does better than her mom Phyllis George did for the CBS Morning Show in the mid 1980's.

Well, if the network is trouble finding quality advertisers for a show that would definitely endanger it....thanks for the link, Chris.

Turner Broadcasting has gone backwards since the days of the aol/time warner merger. CNN+HLN were bound to get a crappy rebranding eventually.

The folks at TCM better hope TruTV doesn't start to pull decent numbers. The big wigs will have TCM running "caught on tape"

These are the same people that sold WCW because they don't like pro wrestling. WCW's Monday Nitro was still Turner's highest rated program at the time.

Bought out liberty media's 50% stake in Courtv in order to phase out trial coverage. I don't enjoy trials on tv all day, but it seemed to be a ratings boost for HLN. Judge Judy is the highest rated/highest paid person in daytime tv. Americans seem to like "court tv"

TNT is drama
TBS is comedy

Why can't CNN be news? HLN was gaining ground with a mix of Robin, news headlines, coverage of big trials, and Lynn on evening express.

Gotta love Zucker's logic. Sounds more like he doesn't want to have to spend time in Atlanta. Not buying the advertiser issue. Trial coverage doesn't pull in the classy $? So "Cook Your a$$ Off" is the answer?

FNC is always going to lead the ratings in cable news. FNC has no real competition for conservative viewers. When 1 channel can draw from 40-50% of the population while the other sources fight for the other half FNC can't lose.

CNN should of stuck to being "the most trusted name in news" Trying to beat FNC's ratings by becoming FNC lite will be a disaster.

CNN will never be FNC Lite

All their bosses, producers and most likely anchors are all Liberal

I meant more in terms of production. Not the editorial side of things.

CNN wouldn't be a FNC lite. For starters, FNC doesn't have the programming that CNN/HLN has. For FNC it's news/opinion all of time not travel/info shows that CNN/HLN has.

One thing nobody has mentioned so far: CNN really is the go-to channel for international events. They stayed up all night for Mandela coverage using the CNNi feed & staff.
