QVC HD added to DirecTV(D)

QVC HD should be added to DirecTV's HD lineup either this week or next week. They started testing it on July 9th. Channels are usually tested for one to two weeks before going live.

Finally. 60" of SD is hard to watch. Will be nice to have a sharp, clear feed.

QVC uses some of the best quality HD cameras for their broadcast. Prepare to be amazed (I know I was).

When they have things setup properly, it is amazing. But unfortunately since they changed the current sets and went HD. They use some of the worse camera angles, camera techniques and set lightning.

The fashion shows are the worse trying to watch. They have the models constantly moving and spread all around the set, and show everything either at a distance or come in right on top of the model or host.

And where are they going to put it, or will it be on all three channels it's on (70/275/317). I don't know why QVC is on three channels, JTV and ShopNBC two, but HSN is only on channel 240. It might be on all three channels since Audience is also on multiple channels and in HD.

The main channel will remain 275, but 70 and 317 will be mirrored of the channel, and won't use anymore bandwidth. The reason there are multiple QVC, Shop, JTV, etc.. is they are revenue generating channels for DirecTV. Those that carry QVC get up 5% of the net sales and also make payments in return for favorable placement.

I've always wondered if 275 was the main, or if it was 317. I keep 70 blocked. I like to be able to go from my locals to CNN. Only problem with a favorites list like that is I have to make sure to check the other list on the guide about 2x a month to make sure Directv hasn't added or moved anything.

Hope you get better PQ from QVC HD on DTV. On my cable system QVC has more digital compression then HSH.
An hour of HSN is around 7GB while QVC is 6GB.

i have no hope of getting qvc in hd on my twc. In the 4 years I have had hd they have added 2 channels-tru and nfl. I get aboout 20 channels in hd. thinking about switching to dish but not sure

I just noticed QVC HD on the Roku 3. But I don't think you can record that.

Still in test mode. I had forgot :oops:

that lately DirecTV is testing some channels longer. ION HD was in test for a month before it was added. They also are testing two other channels.

QVC HD is live on DirecTV channel #275. If you have a favorites list, you will need to refresh it. Then the HD channel will appear.
