The last we heard of Rachel Nichols was after being nudged (for the lack of a better phrase) in what her dream job was in hosting the 2020 NBA Finals.
Once the
New York Times published the one piece of the wiretap conversation that we were all aghast over in saying "How could this happen?"
It turned out that we had almost the second version of the Erin Andrews peephole. But this time, the one man did not see her undress. However, he behaved himself and silently watched what Rachel was talking about while being held in the Bubble during the 2020 NBA Playoffs in Orlando.
Well, she is back with a leading role in the NBA coverage seen on Showtime Basketball. The longtime journalist will serve as a host and producer for multiple programs and projects across multiple platforms. She discussed her ESPN departure with co-hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, who host the “All The Smoke with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson” video podcast which dropped this past Friday.
After watching this interview, she is holding nothing back. And yes, Maria Taylor still has not reached out after Rachel congratulated her when she was hired to lead the 2021 NBA Finals hosting duties for ABC. This of course was just days before jumping on a plane to team up with former longtime ESPNer Mike Tirico to cover the 2020 Summer Olympics in hot and sticky Tokyo, Japan.
