The thumbs look nice...but the bigger pics are a bit rough. I have tried the same thing with the same results. I wish it worked better. Great try though! |

A couple of suggestions to start with -- It usually doesn't work well unless the TV is an HD set, and that you're sure the program is in HD itself. Then, once you've taken the photo, whatever you do, don't crop it and blow it up. I know rangerman was trying to hone in on the best "parts", but all that does is distort the image... that's why it looks like the view you'd have if you had your eyes only inches away from the screen. Best thing is to take a shot of the full screen and leave it that way, just like the regular caps look. There was a guy that used to post here, "Rerand", and one of his specialties was Kiran Chetry on CNN, and he got AMAZING results by just snapping pics off his TV screen: <<these are reduced in size- his originals were huge. Here's a lot of his threads you can browse: search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&keywords=rerand Another key thing is probably a really good camera (not a cellphone), and absoulutely still - hands off-- maybe mounted on a tripod at the correct distance from the screen. It's tricky, but it can be done. . |

Thanks Pacific. I'll try it on your suggestions. My Tv is HD and so is my DVR. I think where I went wrong to is that I had the camera zoomed in a little bit, so I'll not zoom in and try it again. I might sit back a little more from the screen and see if that helps. I was about a foot and a half from the screen on this posting. I just don't want to get the frame of the TV in the photo. I'll experiment some more before posting the new ones. I've got a couple more shots of Emily during the show and I've also got her when she was on Jimmy Kimmel. Thanks for all ya'lls comments. Greatly appreciated. R. |

It seems like ReRands caps are all locked...couldn't see any of his caps. I would try this method...but I don't have HD channels anymore |

I've never tried it before because I have the other capping method but the camera on my iphone 4S is really good so I gave it a try for you guys as a test. I took a 1080 HD test video with it as well. I think it is almost the same as my normal capping method, it is amazing how much they have upgraded the capabilities of cell phone cameras. caps.. video.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTB7QL7lSm8 |
