Looks good.
I can record this, but the vids are h.264 in a .ts container which just about no one will be able to play. Plus I can't edit them with anything unless I encode to .wmv then edit and encode again. I'm waiting for VideoRedo to support h.264. Until then I'm archiving all the good snippets. |

I use Mpg2Cut2 to edit/cut the original mpg which turns the edited file into a ts file. If I need to split/join the ts file I use TSSplitter. |

I've tried that and an assortment of TS packet editors, but no go. The capper I got records in a strange format. Even VLC Player won't play it. Nero Showtime plays with no audio. Only MP Classic with ffdshow filter seems to work perfectly. I might post a small sample vid later when I'm at home to show you. |

Here's one that I've already uploaded. It will only play with MP Classic with FFDShow filter installed. 15MB http://www.mediafire.com/?150mzyhh0m4 Here's a download for FFDShow. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDshow.htm If you have anything else that will play it right with audio and video, or anything that will edit it then let me know.

WMP played it but it was slow and glitchy. Maybe try a different capturing method. Are you using capdvhs or some other way? |

Capped with this: http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr.html The vids play perfectly with the MP Classic and FFDShow. HD resolution with very little compression, and with the right settings the recordings turn out great. Great for me because I can play them, but not really good for sharing. I can encode to WMV with good results. Here's the same vid as a 1280x720 WMV. http://www.mediafire.com/?2j3jkd1dmxf |

As a wmv it doesn't seem quite as crisp. But no need to nitpick. It still looks plenty nice. Are you recording from cable or satellite? I might consider switching to sat if Comcast can't keep up with new HD stuff like they say they are. I don't even get TWC HD yet and TWC is based here in Atlanta lol! |

Well, even the h.264 is a little compressed. Very hard to notice, but I nitpick as well. You can see the compression when going frame by frame. Still a nice device since I can cap any HD source with a component output without worrying about encryption. I got directv. For me it's great for HD Sunday Ticket and lots of HD channels, but terrible because they skimp on the bandwidth with their compressed signal. Also you can't network the new hardware, and it doesn't have firewire support to record DVHS. If they didn't add the new HD channels I would have switched to Comcast or Dish by now. |

There are some channels on sat I wish I had. I guess certain ones will eventually come to Comcast. I hate waiting, though. |

Hey donkeed, I'm not a nitpicker. If Kiran does any good segments during the rest of the month, I'm relying on you guys to show me! I'm moving and will be without cable starting next Monday. Go figure, Kiran comes back after two months and I have to go without again! |

Donkeed, I have found a way to edit h.264 transport streams from a Blu-ray source, I'm guessing it will work with your files as well. I'll give it a try on the sample you posted and let you know. |
