I get that sometimes with mediafire. Just keep trying it or right click and save link. I just did a test and it downloaded fine.

Just do the right click and save target/save link on the download link on the mediafire page to save.

At worst, I do a right click and copy link to another open browser.

I would say that if you see an ad under the link, close the browser and reclick the link. You should see no ads interfering.
