Nice find - Cobra!  Most likely her first ever appearance on NBC, and still several years away from "The View". And Carson wasn't known for having TV journalists on as often as Letterman and Leno do these days, not to mention ones from outside of NBC. She was still almost an unknown at this point -- Johnny had a real eye for "talent", didn't he?  . |

She wasn't totally unknown by 1990. |

But it wasn't an NBC show, it was on CBS -- basically a supplement to "60 Minutes", and when it was cancelled, some of the correspondents, Meredith included, were absorbed into "60 Minutes", which is what she's discussing with Johnny in that clip. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_57th_%28TV_series%29 (Steve Kroft is still there now) She didn't work for NBC until 2006, when "Today" hired her away from ABC. . |
