More bad changes for The Weather Channel tonight.
During Weather Center Live the TWC Social Segment is now done during the local forecast in a small video box and there is no one on camera just the graphics. :censor
And it gets worse. During taped programming they got rid of the full screen Weather Now updates at 10 and 40 minuets after the hour.
Instead they do a Weather Now update during the Local Forecast at 20 minuets after the hour in a small video box at the top right.
If they keep this format there is no reason to record TWC during taped programming and the only full standing shots on Weather Center Live will be Crystal who I do like always dresses in long skirts and dresses.
Bad moves by TWC. :evil: :censor :censor

Eventually there won't be any live programming on the weekends except during the 7am-2pm slot. Might as well eliminate live weather after 5 pm during the week too :evil:

NBC has been bad ever since Brandon Tartikoff(RIP) left but isn't things at WTC getting worse since Comcast took over?

The good news is the TWC Social Segment is back in it's regular format with the OCM standing at the green screen. :D

The bad news is Kelly and Kim are off so Paul did the segment. :Joker

The other bad news is tonight the Top5 Segment is being ruined by the being presented in a small video window during the local forecast. :censor

On a somewhat related note.. Although I never bother watching those special programs like Cantore Stories (yikes) and It Could Happen Tomorrow, etc., I recently accidentally came across a special called Ice Pilots. It's pretty interesting, especially for folks like me who like planes and are regular visitors to sites such as flightaware.com, justplanes.com, airliners.net, etc. Give it a shot!

More original shows shine on Weather Channel
NEW YORK — The Weather Channel is in the midst of a transformation, one that can be traced in part to an idle afternoon Al Roker spent surfing the Web a couple of years ago.

Pleased with the ratings earned by some new series, the network is increasing by 70 percent the amount of original programming it had planned to offer this year, and will debut at least one new show each month for the rest of the year.

Once the home primarily to meteorologists standing in front of maps, the new Weather Channel will be featuring Arctic pilots, iron workers, wind turbine and power line repairers and Coast Guard rescuers in both icy and tropical climates.

"It's an evolution, not a revolution," said Michael Dingley, the network's senior vice president of content and development, who came to The Weather Channel from HGTV 10 months ago. "You want to respect the core viewers, but let's invite new viewers into the tent."

I can see it now... Live programming 4 AM-5 PM during the week and 5 AM-2 PM on the weekend, the rest is "original programming".

They're making a big mistake not to have live programming during the evening atleast in spring. The midwest gets tornadoes usually from 3pm central until 12am.

I depend on local channels for weather coverage during storm season so no big loss.

Kelly Cass- "Staying Wednesday through Sunday, doing 1am with Adam Thursday and Friday." & "No big changes here, except doing the 1am during the week."
