I'm sorry, while some of the new talent is alright I don't think they come close to Heather or Nicole. TWC is awful and with her departure there is no reason for me to watch.

I agree with all of you..was just saying tv is a business...and NBC Universal is one of the giant dogs....it isn't about just programming...advertising, $$$ drive their decisions these days. OCMs are only worth their contract values....no matter how talented they are.

So that is the goodbye they give Heather? That is cow doodoo and disrespectful for 14 years service. Guess it is true about what they say when Bain Capital takes over a business. Hope she sues them like Nicole. :censor

They didn't even let her say goodbye on air. How messed up, yet strangely appropriate. Oh well, time to flip over to another station for Sandy coverage.

They haven't treated her right since Marshall Seese retired. Should have known better than to expect them to start now. Heather won't sue them though. Her departure most likely isn't an age thing (Kim, Kelly, and Vivian are all around her age), but because of behind the scenes issues. I believe the stories of her being very critical of the change in programming following the NBC purchase. She was one of the few that always maintained her professionalism and didn't resort to the goofy antics of her colleagues. I'd rather she just take the high road, move on, and hopefully sign with another TV network.

Nope, no surprises in how the NBC turd-suits handled this...like everything else they touch turns to crap. In a way, I'm kinda glad she can get away from these Image

I have to agree with a poster above, it's just a business, or more appropriately, a job. I hardly think more than 1% of the nation, if that, will even notice her departure. She had a job to do there and now she will move on. In TV, that's a fairly normal approach. While she had many fans, she wasn't a mega star. TV business is absolutely cut-throat. One day Jen C will be gone, Maria will be gone, SA will be gone, etc, etc. Nature of the beast.

I will be shocked if there is any public outcry over this. Clearly, with Sandy approaching the east coast, the ratings for the TWC are through the roof (per latest findings). No one will care about who is telling them about their next impending disasters as long as they are somewhat attractive, articulate, and marginally knowledgeable.

Most TV peeps, notably "journalists", have monster long resumes filled with several jobs. It is just how it goes. There was a time when K. Abernathy and Jill Brown ruled TWC ..things change.

Youth doesn't win just because they look better on TV, they also don't demand as much pay as they haven't been on the job as long. I love capitalism, but that is how it works. Costs vs. Profit. Always, always, always.

She is a pro with class. It could be that for various reasons, she may have requested not to make any further statements on-air. No defending the dimbulb a$$hats at NBC for letting her go.

She is....she'll turn up soon, maybe even nationally. Look at Alexandra Steel...good things happen to good people...her leaving now may be a blessing in disguise.

I checked on and off for three hours yesterday
She NEVER went to the map
Vivian was at the map FIVE times :Bang
I washed my hands of TWC when they bounced Kristin Dodd and Kristina Abernathy
This is just one more reason not to watch

From NewsBlues:

Heather Tesch, a blondiful on-camera meteorologist at The Weather Channel, is the latest to get the axe.

"This will be my final few days at The Weather Channel as TWC makes some programming changes," she wrote on Facebook Friday. "It has been a fabulous ride for 14 years." Tesch signed off Sunday.

She is actually ON as we speak. Maybe she agreed to stick around through the end of FrankenStorm...

I'm pretty sure a true meteorologist like her loves covering a storm as significant as Sandy. And I'm not making light of it, since I live in New York and will experience it first hand. But I think Heather agreed to stay on for a few more days because this is what profesional weather forecasters thrive on. I'm not expecting any sort of sendoff, and I don't even care that much anyway, since we all know by now she's gone and didn't leave voluntarily. A "Thank You Heather" video would seem hollow. I'm sure her friends at the network will give her a nice going away party or something.

We (Piedmont Triad) have been lucky so far...only light rain and wind (10mph). Norfolk got hammered and my aunts in Delaware had to evacuate this morning...prayers go out to all effected.

As for Heather, she is a Team player to the end...she'll get plenty of offers...she's professional to the max. (Take notes Kiran C.)
