Robin's purple v-neck dress looks good on her almost-anniversary, joined as usual by Jen and Melissa. And there's plenty of flashback moments in today's huge album! Congratulations on two decades of national cable news, Robin. You are awesome beyond words!

Talking about the first day at then named CNN Headline News in her 2009 book Morning Sunshine! under the very somber, yet appropriate subtitle in Chapter 8: MY FIRST DAY AT HEADLINE NEWS: 9/11 "I was busy taping a show while another show was being anchored on the air live. When I saw the pictures being fed in live on our monitors, I didn't know what to think. I felt my heart race. Like most everyone else, I wanted to believe this was some horrible accident, or just a nightmare I could somehow wake up from. The fact that I had to switch to newswoman mode helped me to stay focused on the job at hand: to gather as much info as I could based on what was coming into the newsroom during those initial moments and the terrifying days afterward. While the catastrophic events of that awful day threw the globe into panic (mode), the anxiety that had plagued my own personal life was subsiding. I was in a new workplace, and I had to focus on the news and what was happening to our nation, so I was busy staying in the present, thinking about other people and their lives, and not focusing on myself." Barely three hours into Robin's job, that's when the world changed forever. |
