Okay, let me explain... in the cold open for this past weekend's Saturday Night Live, CNN's Brooke Baldwin (Cecily Strong) broke the news about Donald Trump (Alec Baldwin) and his leaked audio, then went to the camp of Hillary Clinton (Kate McKinnon) for reaction. So why is this in the CNN section? It turns out that Brooke Baldwin (Brooke Baldwin) got tickets to the show courtesy of writer and Weekend Update anchor Colin Jost. I'd imagine it must've been a surreal experience for Brooke to see herself impersonated live.

I'm honestly not sure. I have no idea if Colin gave her the tickets for that reason or Brooke knows Colin and wanted tickets for the Lin-Manuel Miranda show, but it's still a coincidence. I know that Brooke did attend an SNL several weeks after Cecily first impersonated her, so perhaps some connections started there.

Nice!

As HSF was saying up top, this now makes the second time Brooke has been played by Cecily on SNL.
First time was in April of last year:

At the time, Brooke had been sick that weekend, and said she slept pretty much all
of Saturday day & night, not even finding out she'd been parodied until Sunday morning with tons
of calls and texts about it, wished she had seen it. And that she hoped to get tickets to the show one day.

Looks like she's gotten her wishes fulfilled! :Kool :mrgreen:

This time they went blonder, keeping with Brooke's real appearance,
but they still stuck with that same plum-colored dress :jetserl

Both. Brooke and Colin Jost are friends.

Having said that, I'm sure the main reason she went was for Lin-Manuel since she's a fan of Hamilton, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had Cecily play her again knowing that she'd be there. Especially since, like pacific said, she was sick and wasn't even on to cover the Trump story on Friday, so it probably would have made more sense to parody Tapper or Wolf otherwise.

I wasn't aware Brooke was sick anytime last week. I was talking about how she
was ill that first time they had Cecily play her last year, and missed out seeing it on TV live
because she slept right through it at home. :lol:

My bad. Thought you were talking about last week. :oops:

Yeah, the first time seemed to be a surprise and she and Colin became friends afterward. They even vacationed together last summer with her other friends.

Anyway, yes, she was sick on Thursday and Friday. Off both days.
