What? JJ is leaving CNN??

Apparently she got let got. Big mistake by CNN. I am guessing she will easily get a gig on a local Altanta channel so hopefully I can still see her.

Jacqui was let go, as was Reynolds Wolf. That just leaves Myers and Marrciano as the only full time meteorologists. It sounds like CNN is doing away with most of their weekend news, replacing it with more fluff material. CNN is a sinking ship right now. So don't be shocked to see more people getting fired. I like Jacqui and will miss seeing her, but I think she'll land on her feet.

I have a friend that writes copy for CNN .. they are absolutely killing when it comes to digital media news (internet news, apps, etc), but ratings are horrible on TV. They are raking in the bucks via the digital side, so the TV side has become nothing more than an avenue to record shows (which do get uploaded frequently -- odd thing, but ratings don't mean interest these days since many people just que up "Christine Romans" or "Wolf Blitzer", etc). Anyway, b/c of that, they can cut salary all over the place in several departments, such as weather, b/c the apps can just use recorded weather and/or borrow from CNN International (Jill Brown and the other TWC girl, I believe, right(?), among others).

It's the way of the world these days....TV as the primary tool for viewership is declining all across the board. I'd be shocked if 20 years from now any TV station had "scheduled programming" outside of some arbitrary way of saying "debuts at..such and such time" for earliest possible download/viewing.

Anyway..

Is Karen Mcginnis still working for them?

That sucks. Jacqui is lovely.

I'm not surprised CNN is still doing good with digital media, but the thing is, MSNBC and especially Fox are still pulling in big ratings. I know CNN pretends to be politcally neutral (even though they lean left), but maybe in this day and age straight news is not going to draw anymore. The other two networks target specific audiences and still do strong on TV.

CNN has also overspent on some people. Piers Morgan and Erin Burnett (even though I like her) were expensive and hyped acquisitions, and they have more or less been busts. Anderson Cooper is the only consistent draw for them, and it seems like Brooke Baldwin is becoming the station's other big star (they send her to EVERYTHING). So, much like the other two stations, you either need marketable personalities (Cooper) or super hotties (Baldwin). CNN's problem is that the rest of their lineup is filled with boring duds, for the most part.

Back to Jacqui, she will be missed, and it's surprising they got rid of their only female meteorologist. I think most guys would rather watch her than Chad Myers.

Is that technically correct if you count Bonnie Schneider?
(mostly HLN, with occasional CNN appearances)

And is Bonnie's status still stable for now?
