I was just wondering what is the best web browser?
IE is just really bad since it shuts down almost every site I try to go to.
Is Safari good or are there better ones out there?

Thanx...

Firefox.

I have used it 95% of the time now for 4 (possibly 5?) years.

Best browser hands down.

Add-ons make the most worried feel safe about browsing.

(And I know that IE now has numerous features taken from FF, but as far as add-ons, IE does not come close)

Firefox. It's not even close. SO many options. Regular security updates. No popups. Control over almost anything that you're looking at. You can control your music jukebox on your computer from Firefox if you want to listen to music while you're web surfing. With all the add-ons and extentions, you can customize it to look how you want, and act how you want. There's even an extention that allows you to view webpages in Internet Explorer inside the firefox window, for those pages that work best in IE. I couldn't recommend it more if I worked for the company.

I use Firefox as a matter of convenience. I'd prefer to use Opera but it's all about the add-ons, once you get started using Firefox's many tools it really makes it difficult to make the transition to another browser. But I'd put off downloading the 3rd version of Firefox for a few months, they have to work out some major bugs. So go with the FF2 version.

Opera is the fastest loading with cleanest view of any browser out there and might be easier to adjust to for long time IE users.

Good advice (in my opinion and experience anyway).

I only download all new versions of software on one PC only - and that is my PC that runs Vista. And as much as I love Firefox, I can see that Version 3.0 is going to take some getting used to.

I do prefer Version 2 as of right now, but change is difficult for most in every area of life, not just software.

That said I still stand by my first post (and really agree with every single word of flaming_cowpie's post) in saying that the add-ons and extensions are unmatched by any other browser.

Case in point...

Today I got a virus while using IE. Now, my Anti-virus software caught it immediately, but I opened the same page in Firefox and it blocked it instantly.

I just cannot say enough about the browser.

(P.S. It was actually FC who brought IE Tab to my attention. Why I chose to open up IE outside of Firefox when I have that add-on is beyond me)
