Well looks like tax return has been good to me plus been saving some money so time to throw it all away on a new tv. I currently own a 32" LCD tv in the computer room that doubles as my computer monitor. Now Time for a TV in the living room (tired of going to computer room to watch HDTV all the time). Not sure if I should get LCD Plasma or projection with DLP. Will be used for gaming, movies, and HDTV viewing. The room is only 15ft x 15ft (not that big of a room) so I figure I sit about 8ft to 10ft away. Want something in the 1000 to 1500 dollar range but want the best bang for my buck considering size of room. I have been searching the net all day and cant make my mind up. Anyone own a big size HDTV? Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated as always
My main wants... 1080P biggest I can get for that size room (I hear if you get a screen too big for a small room or you sit too close the picture will show pixles) |

I got a 60" Sony Grand Wega projection LCD, and I couldn't be happier with it. It's not one of the newer ones that are 1080p ready, but I don't even have a 1080p source. I also have a 37 Sharp Aquos flat panel LCD which I would recommend. |

Who broadcasts in 1080p? I'm going to also get a new set and was thinking plasma due to cost. |

Nobody, and nobody will be anytime soon. The only 1080p source I can think of is blu-ray discs. Go with and LCD if you can since it should last longer. Either pay now or pay later is what it comes down to. You don't have to get a flat panel. They sell projection LCD's and even CRT's. |

Only current 1080p consumer sources are Blu-Ray/HD-DVD and some games for the XBox 360 & PS3. Broadcasters won't do 1080p for a LONG time (in 50 years maybe? ). |

Agreed broadcasters are just now doing 720p and 1080i so it will be a very long time before they jump to 1080p. My concern with 1080p was for gaming and blue ray/hd-dvd. Having said that I narrowed down my choices to the two below. Here is the first choice. And for screen size and price I think its a decent deal. http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Toshiba- ... tDetail.do this is my other choice http://www.electronicexpress.com/product?prod_id=11275 still pretty good size but not as big as the first one, but did notice on the sales page of the second one they had a stand to actually fit it at a decent price as well. I think it would be more difficult for me to find a stand for the first one...and much more expensive. Thoughts? And the feedback is always appreciated guys. |

Both nice sets - I have the Toshiba DLP 62" 1080p (last year's model) bought it from Tiger Direct, and got the best price by 500 smackers - our tv room is 16x20 - so you are on the right track for size(and yes, size matters make sure whatever you buy has lotsa input connections - have fun- |

Yeah I was kind of debating over DLP. Good to hear from someone who has one. Didnt get it for super bowl but was told from many retailers they should have a huge tv sale afterwards and to just be a little patient. Thanks again! |

I have a 37' LCD & a 65" DLP. The LCD cost almost as much as the DLP. The LCD is 720p & the DLP is 1080p, so i think you can the which one is the better value. Here are the specs on the Mitsubishi i have Big Screen Store Link Oh i bought mine from SHOPNBC. |

Thanks fitz for the DLP feedback! I was having concerns but now hearing more owners say they love their DLPs. And I have seen some great prices.

![]() One more thing. Get a surround sound system. The speakers on these micro-displays are pretty lame. I like Bose. This one is excellent, amazing sound! http://www.thebigscreenstore.com/show?product.bose_ls38_b |
