Finally figured it out. I resinstalled Flip4Mac.

Hi. My Mac's hard drive crashed in December; before that I had no problem playing .avi files. Now most of the data is recovered, and I have the latest QuickTime (7.4) running on OK X 10.4.11, so Tiger, not the latest Leopard. I've downloaded the latest xvid codec, but all .avi files run really jerky (whether or not they look like they have the xvid codec). Any thoughts as to what I need? Do I need to upgrade to Leopard? |

I was gonna say the processor might be getting too old for the file's bitrate, but you said they played fine before. My guess would be to reinstall Quicktime. Download it from Apple's website and see what happens. |

I read on other forums that people are having a lot of problems with the update and went back to QuickTime 7.0 and didn't have a problem after re-installing 7.0. |
