Has there been some kind of "purge" of inactive threads? While messing about this evening, I noticed that a couple started by me which haven't seen any action in some time have disappeared (not showing up in search).

There is a purge function that gets rid of inactive posts.

The only other thing that could have happened is that it was moved during the forum split. Did you do a search of the whole forum?

Yep, whole forum search. Looks like anything without activity since July has gone. Just curious what had happened.

To maintain board functionality, we have to do purges. If we saved every post, the database will so huge that it would become too slow to load the forum. An auto-prune is now in effect to delete posts that have not been responded to for for a period of days. The length is dependent upon the forum. The most active forums can be from 270 (~9 months) to 360 (~1 year) days. Something like the Alert forum is on a 30 day purge.

This is why we advocate WWoW artists to use various tools that preserve their caps like posting at Fotki or even better, utilizing wwofw.com by creating webpages and them hosted. For clips, have them hosted at Rapidshare and create folders of like content for easy reference.

It always seems that once we reach a certain post count, the forum gets sluggish and loads very SLOWLY. Please explore these options if you want to preserve your content here at WWoW! If you have any questions, please ask! :Kool

PS.. I have been having to tweek the settings based on the forum. Dedicated threads survive the best. :Kool

Rocky,

Not a problem. I have everything posted by me here on a separate drive as well as on Photobucket. Appreciate there is only a finite amount of room on the forum. I was just curious as to what had happened.
