Realizing I can't change the channels with my dvr of the cable box. It's stuck on channel three. I wonder if anyone knows how to program a cable box so I can record off it Then I won't have to be around. I got a scientific atlanta explorer 2200 and a old panasonic dvr. They way I done it before was disconnect the cable box and record off the basic channels when I leave the house. Tired of doing that so now I don't. |

Check the box's menu or guide for an auto tune function. Also, some tuner card's come with an IR sensor/transmitter that you changes the channels on the cable/sat box. |

Little confused,do you have a cable box with built in DVR? Or cable box and a separate DVR? If its the second choice, what i do is program the cable box to record(it just turns it on and changes to the channel i want to record)then i use manual record on the DVR and manually input the start to finish time.I usually add extra 5-10 mins before and after just in case the program runs overtime. Or use the IR sensor like donkeed suggested.Should of been included with your DVR,or contact our cable company for more idea. Good luck!! Edit:Is your box Digital cable box? If it's the older 1-99 channel box i think you might have to use the IR sensor. |

Thanks for the info. I bought my DVR long before I had a digital cable box. My DVR is not the cable companies. I'll have to search the makers website for documentation on how to record off the cable box. I never got around to reading the replies. Only record off the box for the last several weeks. But I will check today. |
