Post subject:  My TIVO is alive again!!!
I have first gen. Philips TIVO which recently would freeze then reset about every 5 mins and not do anything when i push record.So for whatever reason i decided to reset the channel&to do list and after pressing enter and getting "It will take about an hour to reset" message,after 3 hours later it was still stuck on the message.As i was about accept the death of the unit,i heard it breathing and the best part is no more freezing and the record feature works again.I"m expecting my TIVO to crap out again but for the time being it work lke new.I point of this post is never give up on`anything.PS does anybody know an easteregg code for Replaytv that allows you to view recorded shows without subscription?If you don"t subscribe, every feature is disabled.I"m not been cheap,it just that Replaytv flat out sucks.

DVR's really shouldn't be thrown out. A lot of the time, like in your case, a simple clear everything and reset system fixes it. Other times just replacing the hard drive (which is usually the part that fails) and it's back and running. The only thing you have to consider is if it's worth spending money for the parts or is it too outdated to work on.
