Post subject: | Transferring files from a DVD-RAM |
Recently I bought a DVD recorder and recorded some stuff on the DVD-RAM that came with it. What I didn't know(first time user) was that DVD-RAMs don't play on anything other than the original player. So I was wondering if you guys know how to transfer the files from the DVD-RAM to a computer, or to a DVD-RW? |

This site may help http://forum.videohelp.com/viewforum.ph ... 5c027ebabb If not I'll try to explain it later when I get a chance if this site can't help. I got to go out for awhile in a few minutes. Do you have both a DVD drive and HDD (hard disc drive) on your recorder ? |

My stand-alone has a HDD, but i never use it. I prefer removable media because it's easier to transer to my Burner-Rom for converting. Like jstanio said, you will need a DVD burner capable of playing RAM disk. I recondmend this burner: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827131039 As to your question about tranferring DVD-RAM to DVD-RW. I don't think those two formats are compatible with one another. |

I have a DVD recorder which I bought 2 1/2 years ago and I still can't find a way to convert something on a DVD-RAM to another DVD format. My only option is to record back to VCR tape and then re-burn to a DVD-R. I lose quality in the process. I learned that lesson real quick and fortunately I didn't lose anything really that important. It sucks that you can't finalize a DVD-RAM disc! ![]() |

I was hoping you had the HDD, cuz that makes it easy this may help you out with the Ram, if not, you may have to just get the DVD-R disc and edit them then finalize it if your computer plays DVD-R disc. http://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.ph ... 4138157fe7 When you finalize, it should help to play on other DVD players. I have never finalize a Ram, do to I use them just for a back-up in case my HDD gets corrupt somehow. |
