I asked this question here before but still have the same problem even after talking to Xfinity Concast techs online. :Tantrum

Me and my brother rent an apartment above our landlord. We pay a monthly flat fee for everything including cable/internet. So we do NOT have access to his Xfinity/Comcast router that gives us our wi-fi on our laptops. Well every other day we lose connection and have to contact our landlord to reset the modem. That is the ONLY way we get our wi-fi back: for him to manually reset his router. And often he is working or not home so we have to go without internet for days until we can track him down. When we moved here we were given his network ID and password to connect and that worked fine, but what is causing the wi-fi connection to drop so often? Is it our fault? Wrong settings on our laptops? Or is it our landlord's modem or Xfinity's fault?

Any help or guidance would be appreciated!! Thanks!

The only thing that comes to mind offhand is to check the encryption method on the wireless router. I used to have mine set on WPA until i started losing connections a while ago, then I switched it to WPA2 and the issues disappeared. Either that or there's some form of interference coming from somewhere.

If you connect to wi-fi using your phones, do they get kicked off as well?

Did Comcast check the firmware on the router? If it out of date I would take the time to update it.

We are connected to our landlord's network when we use our laptops. However when connection to that network is lost, our phones go to 4G, the same as if we were anywhere out of our landlord's wi-fi range. I will have to ask our landlord about the firmware. Don't think he ever checks that. Thanks for the help guys, I'll keep you updated. :Kool :Kool
