I need ideas on how to reduce recording size of my videos off the capture card. It is a Avermedia card called the Dark Crystal. Any program to convert them to smaller size? And how do I do it? Also I need a place online to store and cost if paying is necessary. Since the videos are way too big then I run out of space easily on external drives and my hard drive of the PC. I use the Avermedia as a DVR so record full length videos. One hour of recording is already 9GB. All videos are mpg.

I am sure you will be getting many replies more qualified than mine but heres my .02 worth.

First need more information. What format is your video. Do you want free or willing to pay.

My favorite editor converter is WONDERSHARE FILMORA V7.30. Not freeware
Videoredo Not freeware
Format factory , : freeware (beware of adware)
Virtual dub freeware (avi only input)

Many many more I have tried but cant remember (hey I'm old ok lol)

If compressing videos is all you're looking to do, then HandBrake is easily the best tool for that. It's free.

https://handbrake.fr/

But here's a warning, it's quite complicated at first glance. If you decide to use it, post again and we'll try to help you if you're not sure what to do.

As for online storage, I'm not experienced with that. I save all my videos locally on hard drives because backing up gigabytes or even terabytes of TV recordings to the cloud would take a looooooong time to do, and depending on your ISP you'll quickly hit your monthly bandwidth limit as well.
