Wide World of Women

My brother has a Vizio Smart TV and one of the apps included is a Media app. When he clicks on it, it shows HIS NAME-PC and audio, video, and photo folders, but when you click any of them nothing shows up. His desktop computer is in his bedroom and what he wants is to view videos, audio, pics stored on his computer on the TV in the living room. Is this possible? I was told to go to Windows Media Player, click on Stream and on the drop down menu these four options show up:

Allow Internet Access to home media...

Allow remote control of my player...

Automatically allow devices to play my media...

More streaming options...

Which would I click on to view on the living room TV and is it safe to do so without risking privacy and letting others see what's on his computer? Any help would be appreciated!!
