I'm sure this has been asked many times already- How do you transfer/ capture recordings from a Directv HD box which has DVR shows stored onto a PC w/ Windows Vista or a laptop w/ Windows 7 for further viewing editing. and posting?

I use my Hauppauge HD PVR. Easy to use and easy to get only what you want onto your PC.

I'm sure someone with more expertise and a better know how will come along to explain things better. :Thumb

Hi everyone...I've been out of the capping game for a little while now, but I'd like to bump up this thread to see what the latest and greatest technique is for capping off of a DirecTv HD DVR? Thanks in advance.

Most cappers here seem to be getting on just fine with the Hauppauge HD PVR for at least the last half-decade, so I'd say the "technique" is more or less the same.

Newer models of the HD PVR to consider:

HD PVR 2 (USB): http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr2.html
Colossus 2 (internal/PCI-E): http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/ ... ssus2.html

Take your pick.
