 Post subject: Recording DVD Question

I bought some blank DVD+R's to record movies off of TV. When I put the disc in it says it is an unformatted disc. Then it changes to another message saying it is formatting. After that message last about ten minutes, one final message pops up saying the disc can not be recorded or viewed, then it ejects the disc. Any idea what the problem is?
