Post subject:  What kind of capper?

I need recommendations for a still picture capper to use with my laptop. I currently have a Snappy 4.0, but it doesn't work too well ... the caps are distorted (stretched vertically).

I have a Dish network HD DVR, and a Panasonic DVD recorder/player and I get broadcast quality recordings, but the Snappy caps are just not acceptable.

I'll have to use it with my laptop, so an internal card may not be the answer. My regular computer is in a room remote from the TV setup so it cannot be used.

Thanks.

The only thing I can say is look for a USB 2.0 card (since that's almost as fast as FireWire and fast data transfer for video is the key to good caps).

Go to CompUSA and buy several of the USB 2.0 cards from companies like Aver, Pinnacle etc... and see which one works best.

The reason why I say CompUSA is because you can return all the ones you didn't like for a FULL REFUND even though you used them.

BTW, if you ever get a card for your PC may I recommend this one:

Makes great HD caps and a relatively low price.
