Post subject:  NFC Wild Card: Rams @ Seahawks

It's always fun when the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks get together. Both teams split the season series, with the Rams winning the first meeting, while the rematch went to Seattle, which gave them the NFC West crown. However, the Rams are one of those teams who, I think, isn't exactly worthy of being in the playoffs. Yes, they finished 10-6, but look at their wins. They swept the NFC East. They beat the Bears. They swept the Cardinals. They beat the inconsistent Bucs, and they defeated a lowly Patriots team, leaving the win over Seattle as the only one with substance. But look at some of their losses. They were swept by a Niners team that was injured to hell and back, and worst of all, they were the first team to lose to the Jets this season.

The Seahawks were in the thick of things regarding the top seed in the NFC, but the midseason losses they suffered ended up costing them, and they ended up at 12-4 and on the lower end of a tiebreaker with the Saints. Some say the few losses and struggles they had were due to the defense. Others say it's Russell Wilson. Let's let the stats decide:

2020 Statistics

Seattle Seahawks

Total Offense: 5,912 yds; 369.5 ypg (17th)
Passing Offense: 3,941 yds; 246.3 ypg (16th)
Rushing Offense: 1,971 yds; 123.2 ypg (12th)
Total Defense: 6,089 yds; 380.6 ypg (22nd)
Passing Defense: 4,560 yds; 285 ypg (31st)
Rushing Defense: 1,529 yds; 95.6 ypg (5th)

Los Angeles Rams

Total Offense: 6,032 yds; 377 ypg (11th)
Passing Offense: 4,014 yds; 250.9 ypg (13th)
Rushing Offense: 2,018 yds; 126.1 ypg (10th)
Total Defense: 4,511 yds; 281.9 ypg (1st)
Passing Defense: 3,051 yds; 190.7 ypg (1st)
Rushing Defense: 1,460 yds; 91.3 ypg (3rd)

Just like I figured, Russ is the problem. Middle of the pack passing and near top 10 rushing? Yeah, definitely the QB. Meanwhile, look at the Rams' numbers! With rankings like that, they should be 13-3 at least. They should not have lost to the Niners and Jets this season. I really don't understand the Rams. They can look real good one week against a decent or better team, yet they fizzle against bad teams. Everything here, quite honestly, says the Rams should win this game. But there's two things: a) the game's in Seattle, and b) the Rams lost AT HOME to the Jets.

Prediction: Seahawks by 6

Rams 30, Seahawks 20

Rams stun division rival Seahawks for their first playoff win since the 2018 NFC Championship.

Rams have one of the best secondaries in football. Seattle is asking Russell Wilson to do way too much.
