It's a new Wild Card Weekend! The addition of a seventh playoff team in each conference has also resulted in an additional Wild Card Playoff game as well, as well as the #2 seed in each conference actually playing in the opening round. In the case of the AFC, the Buffalo Bills are that team, finishing 13-3 and winning the AFC East for the first time since 1995. How did this season come about? Josh Allen being an amazing passer and runner, as well as the acquisition of Stefon Diggs, making a team who was already on the rise a few years prior--an absolute powerhouse.

For the first time since 1996, a playoff game will be played in Buffalo, and heading to that city will be the Indianapolis Colts, who were in the AFC East with the Bills back in 1996. The Colts, somehow, made it to 11-5, and they entered Week 17 on the outside looking in. Ironically, it was the Bills who opened the door for the Colts, as their 56-26 win over the Dolphins allowed Colts to get in with a win, doing so by defeating the Jaguars. This will be the first ever playoff meeting between the two clubs.

2020 Statistics

Buffalo Bills

Total Offense: 6,343 yds; 396.4 ypg (T-2nd)
Passing Offense: 4,620 yds; 288.8 ypg (3rd)
Rushing Offense: 1,723 yds; 107.7 ypg (20th)
Total Defense: 5,640 yds; 352.5 ypg (14th)
Passing Defense: 3,726 yds; 232.9 ypg (13th)
Rushing Defense: 1,914 yds; 119.6 ypg (17th)

Indianapolis Colts

Total Offense: 6,049 yds; 378.1 ypg (10th)
Passing Offense: 4,053 yds; 253.3 ypg (11th)
Rushing Offense: 1,996 yds; 124.8 ypg (11th)
Total Defense: 5,314 yds; 332.1 ypg (8th)
Passing Defense: 3,866 yds; 241.6 ypg (20th)
Rushing Defense: 1,448 yds; 90.5 ypg (2nd)

Interesting batch of numbers. It states that the running game is the Bills' weakest attribute, and it will most likely be exploited by that Colts run D. However, the pass is where big things happen, and that is clearly the Bills' strength. Against a suspect passing defense, the Bills should take this one and advance.

Prediction: Bills by 10

Bills 27, Colts 24

Bills needed slightly more time than they should have thanks to a controversial call, but they hold on and pick up their first playoff win since 1995.

Colts won the time of possession battle and ran more offensive plays.

But twice they failed to convert inside the Bills' 20 yard line and that's what cost them.

Frank Reich gambled a few times in that game and that cost them. The Bills defense must play better to win next weekend.
