The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Boston Bruins have a very brief playoff history; they've only met twice. The 2011 Eastern Conference Final (won by BOS) and the 2018 Atlantic Division Final (won by TB), and this meeting is the rubber match of sorts. The Lightning entered the Round Robin as the #2 team in the Eastern Conference, and they ended up maintaining that seed when they defeated Washington and Boston, but not Philadelphia in the finale. They ended up facing a familiar foe in the Columbus Blue Jackets--the same team who embarrassed them last season, but they exorcised that demon and won a thrilling five-game series that kicked off with a five OT thriller. Brayden Point scored not one, but two OT goals in the series, the second one taking place in Game Five, which clinched the series.

The Boston Bruins entered this modified playoffs as the only 100-point team in the league, but they went 0-3 in the Round Robin, resulting in the Presidents' Trophy winners receiving the #4 seed. Unlike last year's Presidents' trophy winners, the Bruins won their first round series, defeating the Carolina Hurricanes in five games. They are 3-0 since star goaltender Tuukka Rask publicly announced that he would be opting out and not returning to the Toronto bubble, with the wins coming with Jaroslav Halak in net. Now while Tampa Bay proved they could beat Columbus, I don't trust them to beat real teams. Boston is a real team. Boston was one win short of the Stanley Cup last year. Tampa Bay's attempt at redemption will end at this point.

Prediction: Bruins in six

#1

Ondrej Palat's roll continues; scores two in TB's Game Four victory, which puts Boston on the brink of elimination.
