Hard to believe that this was almost the World Series in 1986. However, it was not to be and these two would have to wait an additional 31 years to face each other in the postseason. The Astros won 101 games this season, only one less than the Indians, and many have said that the acquisition of Justin Verlander has made them even more of a threat. The Red Sox won the AL East with a plethora of extra-inning wins, which came during the last two months of the season. Now this series is interesting, because the Red Sox and Astros ended the season against each other; a four-game set in Fenway that saw the Astros take 3 of the 4. The Astros have the home field in this series, and I see this being a short one.

Prediction: Astros sweep

#1

Jose Altuve hit THREE HRs in Houston's Game One win.

Definitely not a Chris Sale like performance, that's for sure.

Astros 8, Red Sox 2

Astros clobber another Boston lefty and move one win away from the ALCS.

Red Sox 10, Astros 3

Boston comes back from an early 3-1 deficit to avoid elimination in Game Three.

Astros 5, Red Sox 4

Houston survives the battle of the bullpens and advances to the ALCS (first ever ALCS appearance and first overall LCS appearance since reaching and winning the NLCS in 2005).

Houston managed to get some key hits as well, but clearly Chris Sale didn't have his magic that he used to do so well all those many years when he was in Chicago.

Clearly, the better team won the series--and the Astros will get a full amount of rest because the Yankees stormed back in rainy New York to even the series with powerful Cleveland at 2 games a piece. Game 5 in Ohio will be on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. Eastern on FS1, weather permitting.
