And with that victory by the North Siders, the defending World Series Champions won their 90th game of the season. This matches the record of three straight seasons of at least 90 wins from 1928 through 1930.

Aaron Judge, Yankees' rookie, has 51 home runs.

He broke Mark McGwire's record of 49 home runs by a rookie. (1987)

Congrats to the Houston Astros on 100 wins. They join LA Dodgers (102) and Cleveland (101).

There are going to be some rather interesting playoff series.

American League

Tuesday Wild Card: Minnesota at New York
Twins the first team in MLB history to reach the postseason one year after losing over 100 games.

Winner goes to Cleveland

The other ALDS series has Boston going to Houston.
Boston has the momentum, but can the Astros pitching come up huge in a 5 game series?

National League

Wednesday Wild Card: Colorado at Arizona
These two teams were destined to meet each other, and the winner gets to stay out West.

Winner goes to Los Angeles

The other NLDS series has the defending World Series Champion Chicago Cubs at Washington
Joe Maddon is a master at adjusting lineups from game to game. Hopefully, he will have Jake Arietta available for either Game 3 or 4 when the series returns to the "Friendly Confines." And if you go by playoff history, teams that clinch their divisions early do not fare that well in the playoffs. Washington will have a mostly left-handed lineup, but I don't know if it would be enough to score enough runs against the diversified offense of Jon Jay, a mostly healthy Kyle Schwarber, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Wilsson Contreras, Ben Zobrist, Addison Russell, and the Gold Glove arm of Jason Heyward.

Cubs vs Nationals; a team who used to be known for choking (Cubs) vs a team who not only chokes constantly, but plays in a city full of choke artists (Nationals).
