Hurricane Ian has taken WINK-TV as its first casualty. No idea when they'll be back as flood water was seeping into their building earlier.

WINK staffers were evacuated at 3am ET after being trapped on the 2nd floor of their building, plus their generator broke, so it looks like they'll be off-air for a while.

The other Fort Myers stations are on-air.

That's where Kansas City's Belinda Post headed too. After long stints at KSHB and KCTV. I am sure she was not renewed at KCTV. She is a former Chiefs cheerleader. Yesterday I saw the station via the web. She does traffic in that station. I follow her online. She was reporting at KSHB but hosted a lifestyle show at KCTV. She started doing traffic on the side but lost the 9am show due to cancellation. She lasted only 9 months more then left. Just joined WINK in August. KCTV already hired a 26 or 27 year old woman to work partly on a retooled 9am newscast that began this month. She is basically Belinda's replacement in the looks and similar job department.

Belinda did a video about the water entering.

She was part of the staffers that were evacuated. She does mornings so was there at 3am.

Kinda surprised they don't have a plan B. I know WTSP has sister station more inland when Hurricane gets closer they go to that studio which they've been for a last two days or so. There's also two other stations near a river (one on the river).

WINK along with NBC2 and ABC7 in Fort Myers are independently owned, so they don't have the group support of sister stations (NBC and ABC have the same owner, but locally owned), so they can't just go up to Tampa or St. Pete to set up there.

WINK's studio is right by the river, so they had the brunt of the storm surge.

I'm once again able to cap WINK. It's nowhere near back to normal, but it's back.

Here are some details on the TV and radio stations in the Fort Myers area managed to somehow recover quicker than WINK was at the time Ian hit land:
