Yesterday, I underwent an abdominal hysterectomy. I am under 50 years old and lead a very active life. There are many reasons that women have this procedure done. In my case, I had several fibroids (tumors) in my uterus. One grew to the size of a baby’s head and was lodged on top of my bladder. I have been in pain for several years. Recently, the pain was too much to bear. And, I have a high threshold for pain. Whatever you choose to do - whatever is right for you… know that there are thousands of women in the same or similar circumstances as you, and it’s okay to be unsure and frankly scared. My journey is just starting and I hope that my experience can help at least one woman.All the best to Maribel and high hopes for a speedy and safe recovery.
