Post subject:  Christina Thompson, from reporter to Miss Virginia.
I know we've had a post on here about reporters who started out as beauty pageant winners, but has anyone seen someone do the reverse? Well, that's the case with former ABC13 WSET reporter/anchor Christina Thompson. She left the station about a month ago when it was already known online that she was going to compete for the crown of Miss Virginia USA. Last night she won the crown.

She was a great reporter and anchor. WSET never keeps anyone for very long. They're almost a training station for reporters to gain experience before they're shipped off to sister stations. This was her latest anchor reel:



And little did I know that Christina had tried compete for Miss North Carolina USA. I've never heard of anyone switching states to compete again. Christina just turned 25, so I guess this may have been one of her final chances to win the crown.

Liana Brackett was Mrs. Georgia while she was in the Weather Channel and I believe Laura Rutledge (then McKeeman) was Miss Florida at the time that she was covering the Rays because I remember heard Dwayne Staats (Rays play by play announcer) that Laura wasn't there because of her Miss Florida duties. I'm guessing Ms. Thompson won't be on TV covering the news for a year unless it's those lifestyle shows.
