I'm 47 and in the age when kids at my time were into Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, and Sam Kennison, I always liked Joan. I always saw her on Carson, loved her comedy routines on Showtime. When I watched the interviews with her after her death it made me realize something. She never went after anybody, or insulted anyone but herself. Today we are in an age when comedy seems to be "attack an ethnic group, or attack someone" to be funny, but Joan was funny attacking herself. I will be the first to admit, that in the late past, I would watch the red carpet specials, or catch a late night showing of Fashion Police, not because I care what designers are being worn, but because Joan was always funny. With her passing, another part of my childhood dies, and I will always remember her fondly. RIP and Godspeed Joan |
