Did Shep get screwed?

If Gawker didn't get its facts straight then I have reason to doubt the report
Politico is pretty credible

If FNC was so intolerant to gays, they would have fired Ellen Ratner a long time ago (the Politico article reported that Shine was at their gay wedding).

Politico is basically recycling the tvnewser story of reporting that fnc denies the gawker story. I don't see Politico bringing anything new to the story.

Of course FNC is going to deny the story. But a problem I see with the gawker story is claiming that the Fox Report was pulled off the air over 'Shep wanting to come out' idea. It was pretty clear that they wanted to give Megyn a PM show but did not have a time slot. Fox Report was the lowest rated of the shows from 7-11pm. If they were going to make room it made sense to pull that show and then play musical chairs with the other shows to find a time slot for her. Killing Fox Report was simply a ratings number choice, not some 'silence Shep' move.

True, it was either let Greta go to the competition or give Shep 1 hour because Megyn was getting that spot no matter what (she's holding up really well at 9)

I have never liked Shep from the first few days I tried to watch him....seems a little too lib for me for him to be on that network and also he seemed sorta arrogant and like they were trying to push him down my throat or make him the network superstar...in the vein of a Tom Brokaw, Dan Rather, etc.

I had no idea he was gay he just irritated the hell outta me so I didn't watch him then and still don't

I'm sure he'll get another job elsewhere if he leaves Fox. I wish he didn't obsess over True Blood on-air (then again Joel McHale would be a little short on material if he did).

Well if Gawker is making up insignificant news about Fox on-air talent they just lost a ton of what little credibility they had...and if Politico is helping douse an internal Fox fire, then Roger and Rupert have allies in all the right places.

As usual this depends on who your alliances fall toward. I would like to think it's false about Shep getting silenced, but like any seasoned journalist I'm sure he's writing memoirs which will become a book long after his career is over. We will learn the truth one day.

I dont know why Gawker wrote that in the first place and why it got any attention. To my knowledge, nobody said anything about Robin Roberts keeping her girlfriend private for a really long time before she came out when she felt comfortable to.

Because ABC has not made a big deal of defending people that make homophobic commits, ie FNC defending the guy from Duck Dynasty when he gave the interview in GQ, or whatever the magazine was.
Along with on air people, like Bill O'Reilly that consistently complain about the "homosexual agenda" and are against same sex marriage rights.

Well not the entire FNC network, just certain pundits were defending his right to say it, just as others were defending Martin Bashir's crude comments, but I get the sense that ppl here just want to bash FNC and that's their right as well.

But seriously that is the whole issue. And he still hasn't came out on-air yet and I bet he wont. I'm willing to bet no one whoever works for Fox and is gay will come out on-air like Robin...or like the chic from Rosanne who co-hosts The Talk did today. She had her girlfriend on the show! It's not an attack on Fox...it's their right to stand up for what they believe in, conservative values...fair and balanced!
