Thanks Impala for the AVI version. I rarely get to see any of these great videos anymore as no one seems to convert them anymore for the old machines. Donkeed was good enough to suggest a number of editors for me to try but alas none have worked for me so far......what do you use?

I don't know which programs you've tried, but I use VirtualDubMod to make AVIs. VirtualDubMod won't work with .ts or .tp files though. You need a program like HDTVtoMPEG2 to convert them to .mpg first. My TV Tuner records as .mpg, so I don't need to use that.

You have to be careful with settings in VDubMod, otherwise your AVI will come out just as large as (or bigger than) the .mpg :OMG

Did you have trouble with mediacoder? The way impala pointed is a good option, but the reason I steered you towards mediacoder is because it works with the .tp/.ts files and uses Xvid (free).

I can walk you through a step by step with either option if you're having problems. Just send me a PM or post a question in tech support where you're getting stuck at. Once you do it one time, you'll find it pretty easy.

Thanks to you both (Impala and Donkeed) for your kind response. I'll try the VirtualDudMod after first converting to mpeg-2. Hopefully this will work!

For those who hate the find, cut, paste, file creation, moving, blah, blah of HJjoin, use 7zip. easy extraction and no moving files to the HJ directory, unpacking and moving files around (ARGH!!!!). Besides, it is a really simple and free file extractor.

PS I can handle Liz only when she is in hose...she was on Leno one night with hose and heels...what a sight!
