So I notice some people seem to use some kind of desktop recording software to record/cap the web stream version of the various shopping channels, I was doing this for QVC2 myself. However, those types of programs can result in worse quality and higher CPU usage. Recently I discovered the media player I've been using for ages can not only view live streams, but record the actual data stream without any recompression! The quality is exactly what you get from the web player and it takes very little resources. It's also very easy to use. The program is called PotPlayer. There's really not much to set up, it's very plug and play. The trick is to find the url for the datastream. Once you've found it press "Ctrl+U" to open the "Open URL" dialog. Paste the link and press OK. Once the video is playing, press "Ctrl+A" to open the "Record Stream" dialog. You can set where to store the video, set a filename prefix (QVC, HSN, EVINE, etc.), and if you want to split the file by size or minutes. Once you've set those, click OK and the video will start recording as an .mkv file. Just click the stop button to stop recording. Here's some URLs to get you started, just copy and paste: HSN YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ph8qQnjXts QVC: https://qvclvp2.mmdlive.lldns.net/qvclv ... 92000.m3u8 <-- This is better compressed than their YouTube channel and has no banners QVC2: https://qvclvp2.mmdlive.lldns.net/qvclv ... 92000.m3u8 QVC Beauty IQ: https://qvclvp2.mmdlive.lldns.net/qvclv ... 92000.m3u8 Evine YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9-82SWOli0 QVC UK: https://d1txbbj1u9asam.cloudfront.net/l ... index.m3u8 <-- Better quality than their YouTube |

SoCalStorm wrote: How do you find the url stream? It's not always easy. I usually use a Firefox extension called Flash Video Downloader. Start playing a video on a webpage and it can sniff out the source. Then you can copy the URL to the clipboard. ![]() Sometimes you can check the webpage source as well. |
