When they start having Sports, Premium Movies or Pay Per View Events on them. Which is all DirecTV cares about adding anymore, channels that add more to your bill. They forgot about the basic channels. I got tired of waiting for them to be added and went back to cable last week. They offer about 17 more basic HD channels then what DirecTV does, HSN is one of them and on the 15th they are adding QVC. I might start capping again, finally being able to see Lisa in HD

QVC uses the best HD cameras I've seen from any broadcast and the caps we post from them are nowhere near what their actually picture quality is like. Those of you who are fans of the channel and do not get the HD broadcast have no idea what you're really missing. (sorry wasn't trying to gloat of anything) |

I have heard it was a bandwidth issue. They only added AMC HD a couple months ago. I am not going back to Charter Cable and CenturyLink does not offer a UVerse/FIOS-type service (but they bundle with DirecTV-how I get it). I had Dish but only in SD. A piece of advice for anyone considering an HD satellite service. Buy the HDTV, then get the satellite service. And it costs more to upgrade than to switch. |

A piece of advice for anyone considering an HD satellite service. Buy the HDTV, then get the satellite service. And it costs more to upgrade than to switch. Lack of bandwidth space is part of the issue. A guy that tracks that says they only have space for about 10 channels and that some of their bandwidth is being used to "PUSH" PPV's to the DVR's. A DirecTV employee that is authorize to talk about it, say they need to keep the free space open in case they have any problems with any of the satellites. What I cannot understand them not adding QVC HD is when QVC HD was launched, DirecTV was owned by QVC's parent company Liberty Media and after they split DirecTV off into a separate company is their largest investor (48%-53 %), and QVC shares a % or their net sales to be carried by the various providers. |

slowpoke, That is the same canned message that they send out to everyone when asked about adding a channel they just copy the channels that you mention in their reply. A week before they added AMC HD and it was in the test stream. I saw on DBStalk.com where posters where posting the same email reply that they had no plans to carry it. |
