On Monday I attempted using my set top DVD burner to rercord PM style soince they models were extermley hosey. The program would not allow me to burn and gave me a message that said can not burn this program is copyright.

Then I poped in a VHS tape on my VHS machine and record it. I then tryed to burn it to a DVD via the dibbing feature in my DVD-VHS machine. Got the same error message and it would not copy over.

My laptop does not have RCA inputs or I would have tried to record it directly to my Video editing program.

Any ideas of what happened and has this happened to anyone else.

First time it happened with QVC, also happened a few times in the past month with variosu other shows and todays Presidental coverage. Are TV stations starting to find way not to allow us to record programs for fear of priraited material being sold..... (which I don't do)

I use my Tivo to transfer the programs to my PC. I've never had that issue with QVC but my premium channels like HBO,Cinemax etc.,, have the copyright block that doesn't allow the transfer.

The best bet is to go with the tried & tested methods, like a simple DVR that doesn't rely on the signal in the same way a TiVo does. Or even a good old-fashioned SVHS machine.

Sometimes the older technology has its advantages... ;)

Once the HD takes over next month, channels can block recordings of copyrights. I thought I saw where the sci-fi cannel has already or is going to block recording.

Last summer or so, Foxnews was talking about DirecTV is go to fix it so that if you want to watch thier channels, you will need to use thier DVR.

I was looking to get a new Panasonic DVD recorder with more a higher DB HDD then I have now. I looked at thier site and they only had 1. I e-mailed them and asked what happened to all thier recorders with the HDD and they said that they are not making them anymore. Somthing must be up, cuz the HDD made it alot easier to record then go back and edit.

Right now I just have my DVD recorder hooked up to the DVR. That still works, but you don't get the HD.

BTW, as of now, I can still record QVC with the DVR and my DVD recorder.

davetv13....Have you tried using your cable/sat. box as your tuner? I can record anything that way, even On Demand movies including the premium movie channels. You also may want to look into the new DVD recorders that have a built in HD tuner, you won't be able to record in HD but your recording quality will be higher since you're recorder from an HD source.
