I'd like to upgrade, but I'm completely dependent on Windows Media Center to record. I have to stick with Windows 7 a little while longer until there's other software that supports Cablecards. |

(Also, I don't even remember writing the above reply. ) |

Went searching for your issue. Found this: http://blog.solidsignal.com/content.php/4377-SAD-BUT-TRUE-DIRECTV-requiring-HDCP-on-most-non-broadcast-channels (It was posted just a little over a month ago.) In short, DirecTV is encrypting some of your channels to prevent people from exploiting the analo... |

Yep, lateapex is correct: HDCP issue. The simple solution: Use the component (red-green-blue) cables for analog video, and you'll need composite (red-white) cables for analog audio. Alternatively, you can use a toslink cable for digital audio if your satellite box has it. Or you can follow lateapex'... |

FYI, Brianna's boyfriend worked for Paul Ryan. So I'd agree with some of the commenters above, most journalists definitely do have connections on both sides. Nothing worth arguing about in my view. Hmmm lots of political talking going on here I think it's OK as long as we're not specifically stating... |

This post is aimed at new or less tech savvy members who want to get started in capping or just want to know how to record TV to their computer in general. I've simplified as much as possible to make it understandable. Because of frequent questions about which tuner or capture device one should buy... |

I've never owned a Mac, but I managed to help a user 5 years ago get started just based on my own experience with tuners and capture devices. That went well, but honestly I think I just got lucky with that user. Any consideration on getting the Hauppauge HD-PVR 2? There's third-party software for it... |

Most cappers here seem to be getting on just fine with the Hauppauge HD PVR for at least the last half-decade, so I'd say the "technique" is more or less the same. Newer models of the HD PVR to consider: HD PVR 2 (USB): http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr2.html Colossus 2 (in... |

Just so that I'm clear, I'll try to reiterate what you're saying. 1. You have an AverMedia HD DVR capture card. 2. You want to record continuously for long periods of time, but... 3. When your monitor turns off/computer sleeps/screen saver comes on, recordings stop. 4. Your saving money by not renti... |

That's interesting. Wasn't aware that you could do that with a PS3. I haven't been keeping up with PlayStations since my last one was the PS2.
I usually try to help with capture devices here, but this one is beyond me. Sorry I can't help. |

Hold on a second. Are you asking if you can capture (I assume TV given the subject matter on this site) with a PS3 or PS4? Or are you asking what capture device would be good for recording media/gameplay on the PS3/PS4?
Well, if it's the former, I'm not aware that that is even possible. |

5MB?!
I have collectively somewhere around 20TB worth of hard drives in a 13" plastic container... which takes up maybe less than 5% of the physical space of that thing? Wow. |
