I need some input about software that can resize a large good quality mpg video to a smaller file size without losing too much quality. I've got a program called dvd shrink, and it's free. I got my IR Sensor and everything is working fine with Media Center. :D I can make caps with Nero and Power DVD, but I also want to edit the recorded tv. I tried using Sonic Mydvd, but it keeps freezing up, and if I forget to save, I have to start over from the beginning. :x The Sonic program works ...

Thanks for the info slowpoke Yes, I do need an IR sensor for the media center to work, and it should be arriving any day. The tuner card works fine since I can capture video using Windows Movie Maker and Nero Vision. I can't get audio on either of these for some reason. :? I know the audio is workin...

I just got a tv tuner card to use with XP media center, but I'm still waiting on the remote and IR sensor. Any ideas on what programs I should use to make caps of recorded TV? Is it possible to just use media center?

I haven't had any problems losing pics..........yet. I know they delete albums that they think are inactive, but losing pics is just strange.

For burning dvd's, the Sonic software I've got will allow you to edit as much as you want. I import my vids from dvd's, but any type of video file will work.

Here's what I've noticed with my dvd recorder: 1) The bitrate and resolution both effect the quality of the recording. The higher the bitrate the less pixelation especially for things moving across the screen fast. Resolution effects the overall clarity. 2) There is a difference in the XP (HQ 1hour)...

That happens to me too. You can do two things: Either check the "remember me" box when you log in, or if your at work or someone elses computer, log in using the "Login to check your private messages" link.

The photobucket wesite also resizes, but I've had problems sometimes with the quality. I don't know of any freeware for resizing, but if you want to buy software, my favorite is ACDSee. You have many resizing options, and you can change file types, worth the investment IMO.
