buzz, Id just make sure you live within 8-10 miles of the TV station....and that you can take it back if it doesn work. I live 13 miles from a tv station and get nothing but 70% fuzz when I use an indoor standard definition anteanna....to get a good pic Id have to get a huge a$$ anteanna and put it 30 feet above my roof....Ive heard that HD anteannas are very directional...(luckily Im on directTV)

I'm lucky all my stations are very close to my house 5 to 10 miles, plus I'll be using an outdoor antenna. UHF antennas should be used for channels 14+, channels 2 - 13 should use a VHF antenna. I'll be using an UHF/VHF combo antenna.

Use this link http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/audio/tvq.html to find out the effective radiated power of TV stations analog and digital. Just put in your stations call letters. It also will give you a contour map of the stations power.

AH can anyone explain me what this conversation was about? So If I buy a over the air HD then it won't work for me? So there's a version that's not over the air? It will clear up the crappy SD Feed I got? Becoming a little frustrating the image issues I have on my SD cable hooked up to a digital box runnning into computer and using a horrible dscaler, which doesn't clear anything and doesn't help. I sometimes get the caps decent for SD,but sometimes I don't. My ABC feed is Junk.

I guess I never saw the thread till now

I'm using the version 3 series of this tuner card,
http://www.fusionhdtv.co.kr/eng/Products/RTGold.aspx

The card can record from ATSC (Over The Air Digital) QAM (Digital Cable TV) and Analog OTA and Cable TV.

Yeah, i'm with comcast. Their HDTV content is crystal clear, now their "Digital" SD content is a different story. They use way too much compression, although some channels are better than others. The worst channels are kind of like looking through a shower glass door.

I'm waiting for verizon FIOS cable, they have more bandwidth and less compression. A couple people have told me that their quality is way better than comcast. :Thumb

FIOS compression on the SD cable channels is much less then when I had cable.

They also pass the SD and HD Broadcast QAM channels unlocked so you can record them directly with a Digital Tuner Card.

I have a standard cable line coming into my house and the only way I can get my local free HDTV signals on my computer is to ad a "Cable TV AMP"
This is what I use.

go to www.cabletvamps.com
