The Atlanta Braves and the St. Louis Cardinals have seen a lot of postseason baseball since 1995 (the year that the Division Series was first played), and it continues this season. Though the names have changed in the last near quarter-century, the Braves appear to be back as beasts of the East, winning the National League East for the second straight year and 13th overall. How? With bats such as Ronald Acuña, Jr, Freddie Freeman, and Ozzie Albies, as well as pitching for Mike Foltynewicz and Julio Teheran. The Cardinals have continued that St. Louis sports tradition of being a quiet storm, as no one even considered them as contenders in the National League Central, especially since the division was down to the Brewers and Cubs last year. Apparently, the Cards started drinking the same water as the Blues, as they raised expectations and not only made the postseason, but won the Central on the final day.

Fun fact: Since 1995, the Cardinals have reached the LCS 10 times, which leads the National League. Not-so-fun fact: the Braves haven't won a pennant since 1999. In fact, they haven't won a postseason series since the 2000 NLDS...against the Cardinals. Is that an omen? You be the judge. But in any event, I see Atlanta taking this one.

Prediction: Braves in 4

#1

Braves move one win away from the NLCS behind a three-run ninth.

Braves should have stayed in bed. Cards score 10 runs (on five hits) in the first inning and ease their way to the NLCS.
